Woodbury Adopts Comprehensive Plan

June 15, 2011

The Village of Woodbury adopted its Comprehensive Plan and associated Zoning text and map revisions at its meeting on Tuesday June 14, 2011.  This is the culmination of a lengthy and involved planning process involving numerous local officials, local residents and business owners.

The Plan focuses on fostering economic development while maintaining the Village's character and most notably recommends the land near the Harriman Metro North Rail Station be rezoned to a new Transit Village Zone.  This new zone will incorporate a mix of housing types, retail, office and entertainment uses with a traditional neighborhood, pedestrian and transit oriented design.   Provisions have also been made for affordable housing, economic development along Route 32 and improved design guidelines for the Village's Hamlets and bucolic Ridgelines.

The Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) included the preparation of a Generic Environmental Impact Statement which was prepared by Turner Miller Group.  A copy of the newly adopted plan as well as Local Laws adopting the amended zoning and amended zoning map  can be found on the Village's website:  www.villageofwoodbury.com.
